- NEVERWINTER (AKA) THERE IS NO WINTER!
After spending some time playing Rift and Tera I thought I might have to rewrite this review from a less "fanboy" point of view.
This game has excellent combat that really rivals that of Tera ond a lot of ARPG's as well. Unlike Tera and most other MMO's this game is not open world but instead broken into different sections which can be travelled too via a map. This kind of travel is pretty average and you dont get the scale of the gameworld that games like Rift and Tera do excellantly. But where the world lacks in conetent the dungeoning makes up for it! As you follow a mostly linear story you will make your way through many a dungeon slaying and looting creatures as you go along. but what makes this game stand out is it's content creator, The Foundary. any player can make their own dungeuon using a similar tool to what the developers actually used. Though the dev dungeon design may have a consistant level of averageness to it, the foundary dungeons have so much variation. with some of the higher rated ones being SO MUCH BETTER than the ones made by the devs! In one dungeon I was traveling through portals to a nether realm, slaying deomns, raising ghosts, blowing up goblin strucures and in another I was fighting a giant VOLTRON boss which was just awesome. PvP is a lot of fun as well however their are not that many maps and is pretty stale at a lower level. The games paymodel is pretty standard. You have gold which you use to buy potions and small items. astral diamonds which you use to buy gear and make purchases on the auction house, then you have Zen which can be purchase with RL chash and this can buy you luxury items such as a 50% mount, dyes and more importantly ASTRAL DIAMONDS! But what is most interesting about this pay model is that you can actually trade Astral Diamond for Zen! Although pretty gindy the fact that you can earn the payed currency is pretty interesting.
Over all this is an excellent action based MMO RPG that provides infinite content FOR FREE!
